Be a loaner!
Sonny discovered an awesome site that facilitates micro-loans to alleviate poverty. Have you heard of Kiva? Very cool. In their own words:
"The people you see on Kiva's site are real individuals in need of funding - not marketing material. When you browse entrepreneurs' profiles on the site, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. Then, when you get your loan money back, you can relend to someone else in need."

I've heard of this before. My dad seems to think our church supports something like this in a huge way... He's even planning to go on a mission to help the people come up with their business plans so they can get the loans. Pretty cool stuff.

Megan - This is a fantastic idea! I don't know where you find them, but each Christmas it seems like you've picked a really worthy charity to give to.
Carrie - The church does support these "micro-loans," especially in African countries, where women are given small loans to start businesses. Very telling that it's the women. It's wonderful that your dad can use his experience to help people that way.
